OUR STORY

In Neo-Aramaic - also known as Assyrian or Sureth - ‘Qesa’ means wood.

It’s the material from which our watches are crafted - from trees that also thrive in environments reminiscent of ancient Mesopotamia (Bit Nahrein).

But Qesa is more than timepieces carved from trees; it is a tribute to a civilization that once flourished along the banks of the Tigris and Euphrates. It is a bridge between the past and the future.

Time has not been kind to the land of Mesopotamia. Once the cradle of civilization, it has become the cradle of conflict and chronic challenges, shaped by misrule and corruption. These realities are harsh, and weigh heavy on its people. In particular, it has weighed heavily on the Assyrian-Chaldean-Syriac people, the descendants of the ancient empires.

They have suffered mass displacement, cultural erasure, and continue to face an ongoing struggle for identity, survival, and recognition—in a world that too often looks away.

These on-going struggles, often carried out in diaspora, are borne by them, but they should be carried by us all. With the loss of identity, survival and recognition, a piece of this ancient culture, with its ancient Jesus-spoken language, a piece of this heritage risks fading away, and disappearing. And with it, a part of our shared world heritage risks disappearing.

This is where Qesa stands. Not just as a brand, but as a purpose.

With every Qesa watch sold, one-third of the profit goes directly to supporting the Assyrian, Chaldean, and Syriac community - through organizations and individuals working to protect and preserve their culture, language, and future.
